Stillwater Township - A Clean Community
Stillwater was incorporated by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on December 27, 1824, from portions of Hardwick Township. Stillwater is located in Sussex County New Jersey, eight miles west of Newton New Jersey . It encompasses an area of 29 square miles consisting of three small villages Stillwater, Middleville and Swartswood. Stillwater Township is the home of Swartswood State Park, established in 1914 as the first State Park established by the state of New Jersey.
Basking Ridge, NJ – Statewide Insurance Fund Chairman, Thomas S. Russo Jr. presented Stillwater Township with a plaque recognizing their commitment to safety throughout 2014. The presentation was held at the Statewide Insurance Fund’s annual re-organization meeting on February 5, 2015, at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge.
Tax Appeals for 2015 must be filed by April 1 ,2015 with both the Sussex County Board of Taxation and the Township of Stillwater.

***All RESIDENTS WITH ALARMS PLEASE BE ADVISED:
The Sussex County 911 Communications center will be opening on December 11th 2014. The alarm response call-in number for Stillwater Township is 973-940-5551. All residents with alarms should contact alarm providers with this new number to reprogram alarm notifications such as fire and medical alarms etc.
Burglary alarms will remain at the same number 973-383-1515.
***2015 Dog License Application***
Applications will not be accepted before January 1, 2015. A $5.00 month late fee will be assessed for those applications received after January 31, 2015.
E-WASTE DISPOSAL is back at the Recycling Center beginning Saturday, November 14, 2014! Please see link for more information on items that are acceptable:
Middleville Road Phase II (from Volunteer Field to Fairview Lake Road) will begin on Monday, November 3rd. Detour signs will be posted but the road should remain open for most of the project. Any questions or concerns please call Lynda Knott at Town Hall 383-9484.
