Stillwater is governed under the Township form of government with a five-member Township Committee.
The Township Committee is elected directly by the voters in partisan elections to serve three-year terms of office on a staggered basis, with one or two seats coming up for election each year.
At an annual reorganization meeting, the Township Committee selects one of its members to serve as Mayor and another as Deputy Mayor.

Regular Meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month they will begin with Executive Session at 6:00 p.m. followed by Regular Session which will include the public portion(s) unless otherwise noted, and will commence at 7:00 p.m.
Workshop Meetings will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday, as needed. meetings will commence at 5:00 p.m., and include the provision that action may be taken.
All Regular meetings and Workshop meetings will be held at the Stillwater Township Town Hall, 964 Stillwater Road, Middleville, New Jersey
